We can all pretty much agree on one thing…fleas bite!
Other than being a tremendous nuisance, fleas can cause other problems as well. Pets with fleas may develop anemia, tapeworms, or numerous skin related illnesses due to the excessive scratching.
Fleas can be extremely difficult to control, and can spread quickly and easily. A single female flea can lay an average of 18 eggs per day, and up to 2,000 eggs in her lifetime. Fleas can jump as much as 7 – 8 inches vertically, and 14 – 16 inches laterally, allowing them to easily spread throughout the home. Fleas are able to reproduce and thrive year-round indoors. They are able to spread more rapidly outdoors, but are a little more limited by cold temperatures during certain times of year.
