Although it’s impossible for me to know for sure what kind of snake skin you have found, I can tell you about the most common ‘attic snake’ in our area. I live in the Southeastern United States, or Georgia to be more exact. I have personally found snakes skins in many attics. All of the skins that I have found in attics appear to be from rat snakes, which are very common in our area.
Finding snake skins is usually not a pleasant experience for most people, especially when the skins are in your attic. The important thing to know is that rat snakes are not venomous and are generally harmless snakes. Rat snakes are excellent climbers, and can easily enter attic spaces. I have personally seen them travel right up the side of a vertical brick wall. Rat snakes in our area are generally black, or grey. An adult rat snake can easily reach 5 to 6 feet in length.
