In the southeast, we have what is referred to as Eastern Subterranean Termites. Subterranean means that they live under ground. Termites live in large colonies, often numbered in the tens of thousands. When I educate my customers on termites, I often use trees as an example. I tell my customer to imagine a large tree that has just fallen over. The large, main part of the root ball is representative of what the main part of a termite colony would look like. The roots that run off of the root ball, and in all imaginable directions are representative of the countless termite tubes and tunnels that run off of the main colony. Keeping this visual in mind, what would you do if the colony was located between your two houses?
All of that being said, I would absolutely do a treatment on my own home if my neighbor’s home was being attacked. As a matter of fact, I have.
