I have to be perfectly honest with you…after seeing the size of these ginormous bats, the Philippines is another country that is being scratched off of my bucket list of places to visit as we speak! Could you imagine these things roosting in your attic?!?
Believe it or not, the Giant Golden-Crowned Flying Fox (a.k.a golden-capped fruit bat) is real. They are considered a mega-bat, with a wingspan of almost 6 ft. They have a face very similar to that of a fox, and a long snout that is very similar to that of a dog. The Giant Golden Crowned Flying Fox is an endangered species, and it is likely that it will soon because extinct, mainly because of poaching.
So now that we know that we have giant flying dog fox bats living in our world…whats the good news? The good news is that their diet mainly consists of fruit. Thank god!
